Company Overview
Our client provides structured financing solutions to middle market companies through its Corporate Finance Direct Credit group. The Corporate Finance Group is a leading originator of cash flow-based financing solutions to middle-market companies, including senior, stretch senior, unitranche, and second lien products. Our client also provides investment advisory services through its wholly-owned subsidiary, an investment adviser registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Investment offerings include levered and unlevered funds, separately managed accounts, and CLOs.


Purpose And Job Summary
The Data Governance Manager is responsible for driving improvement in data standards, quality, and analytics. The Data Governance Manager will also serve as the main facilitator to define and execute data-driven initiatives and requests (investor data requests, reports, data definitions, etc.). The Data Lead will partner and collaborate with technology leadership, data management to deliver on these objectives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of data needs. Understand requirements and the universe of available information to create actionable specifications, oversee quality checks, and ensure efficiency
  • Create an operational framework to enhance data quality and consistency, including data definitions; identify data and process owners and ensure consistency with the parent company, ORIX USA
  • Lead data analytics, driving actionable insight that results in more informed business decision-making, improved risk management, and responsiveness
  • Proactively be a thought leader applying industry knowledge of data strategies to lead the future roadmap and collaborate with the firm’ s initiatives
  • Act as the subject matter expert in the various source systems to investigate root causes of data quality issues. Identify source system inconsistencies
  • Recommend and monitor implementation of process changes, corrections, and/or data improvements, including documenting and maintaining operational procedures and processes
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on data quality, ensure alignment between stakeholders
  • Work directly with Technology as the key stakeholder of technical data initiatives
  • Contribute to the firmwide data analytics and stewardship and collaborate to advance corporate-wide data objectives

Contacts
This position has frequent contact with all levels of employees and management. In addition, this role may interact with outside business partners, vendors, consultants, and other office visitors.

Education, Skills & Experience
12+ years of data management-related experience, preferably within a financial services business

  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and logical reasoning skills needed to enhance business decision-making using data
  • Ability to identify and implement solutions for improving data quality
  • Demonstrated executive-level communication and presentation skills; proven ability to translate complex and/or technical work and insights into straightforward business language
  • Motivated, “ self-starter” with confidence to handle high-priority initiatives and facilitate day-to-day needs of the diverse reporting user community
  • Previous experience in leading data initiatives with an ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization and across technology, business groups, and shared services
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and maintain a collaborative approach to problem-solving
  • Experienced in data analytics software tools
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
