Application Support Engineer

Reports To: SVP Software Engineering

Location: Chicago, IL

 

 

Position Description:

 

As  Application Support Engineer  you will be responsible for bridging the gap between infrastructure and application teams to provide a higher level of trouble shooting, resolution and proactive solutions to ensure applications are running efficiently. This role requires candidates with exceptional – and broad – technical knowledge, as well as outstanding troubleshooting capabilities to complement strong communication and people skills. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of proven success with end-to-end troubleshooting of proprietary custom applications in high-volume, transactional environments.


Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot to resolution application issues, including application code, infrastructure (to include networking, web services, security, etc.), cloud (AWS), databases (SQL), traces logs, etc.

  • Debugs configurations to identify and determine root cause of application defects

  • Coordinate with teams to resolve all complex application and system issues

  • Administer and resolve applications issues, provide updates, and perform root cause analysis

  • Plan and implement applications and configuration change procedures to ensure optimal quality assurance for all applications and fixes

  • Manage all production systems and recommend ways to optimize performance, provide solution to problems, and prepare reports for all problems

  • Monitor IIS, logs, etc. for compliance issues with people attempting to access the applications
 
Qualifications:
 

  • Experienced on Microsoft technologies, including SQL, IIS, Active Directory, C#, and MS SQL Server

  • Scripting and automation experience utilizing Python, PowerShell, or similar tools

  • Demonstrated ability to implement, support, and troubleshoot high-availability software solutions

  • Strong desire to learn new technologies and work in a team environment

  • Solid understanding of application release methodologies and processes

  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form

  • Bachelor’ s degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent industry experience
